Healthy Eating and Juice Plus+

As part of my treatment to help patients with their overall health through acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I sometimes prescribe herbs and herbal formulas. I also sometimes recommend a product I use myself and heartily recommend, Juice Plus+. I make Juice Plus+ available to help patients and their families meet the recommended daily requirements for fruits and vegetables — so important for maintaining good health.

What Constitutes a Healthy Diet?

We’ve learned a lot about nutrition over the last 20 years as awareness of the importance of nutrition has grown and the Western medical community has learned more about it. Here are some resources for information on how to eat healthily.

USDA Nutrition Guidelines

The old U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) food pyramid many people are familiar with has been replaced with MyPlate.

USDA My Plate nutrition guideThis visual shows the proportion of recommended foods your diet should include, making it easier to judge at a glance at your dinner plate whether you’ve made good food choices.

Proportion: This recommendation shows that half of your diet should consist of fruits and vegetables.

Quantity: For adults age 31-50 the USDA recommend:

  • Men – 2 cups fruit, 3 cups vegetables
  • Women – 1.5 cups fruit, 2 cups vegetables

For more information see MyPlate, USDA for resources, calculators and online tools.

American Cancer Society Nutrition Guidelines

The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends a healthy diet, with an emphasis on plant foods. To avoid cancer risk and cardiovascular disease, as well as other chronics diseases, they recommend a diet that includes:

  • a variety of vegetables and fruits
  • whole grains
  • fish or poultry
  • low in red and processed meats

The ACS recommendations for how many fruits and vegetables you should eat correspond with USDA guidelines. But they recognize that adults and children are not typically consuming enough fruits and vegetables.

Juice Plus+ Fills the Nutrition Gap

Everyone wants to eat right but it’s hard for most people to get the right proportion of fruits and vegetables in their diets. I like this product for my patients because it’s been thoroughly researched by respected physicians. It’s the subject of more than 30 Juice Plus+ research studies that confirm its usefulness for overall good health, specifically:

  • Healthy gums
  • Healthy heart
  • Immune system support
  • DNA protection
  • Oxidative stress reduction
  • Healthy skin
  • Systemic inflammation reduction

Whole Food, Not a Supplement

I feel confident recommending Juice Plus+ because it’s just food! Instead of isolating components from foods, their capsules and chewables contain juice powders from 30 fruits, vegetables and grains.

There are many expert testimonials from respected physicians who’ve recognized how Juice Plus+ can help prevent illness and improve health.

Please contact me if you’d like to set up a personal evaluation and we can discuss whether this product might improve your health.
